GENTLY USED ITEMS:
You can donate your gently used items to our Purple Dove Resale Centers. When you make a tax-deductible donation of gently used clothing, furniture, and household items, you help end domestic violence in our community in two ways:
- Victims and their families are given vouchers and can select what they need from the store to help rebuild their lives and have a new beginning.
- Items are sold to the public and 100% of the net proceeds support our emergency shelter, counseling services and our other related programs.
Gently used items may be dropped off at the following locations:
Purple Dove Resale Center, 474311 E SR 200, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034 , Tuesday – Saturday 10 am – 4pm (Drop-off hours)
Purple Dove Resale Center – Callahan, 450061 State Road 200, Callahan, FL 32011, Tuesday – Saturday 10 am – 4pm (Drop-off hours)
Outreach Center – Fernandina , 2188 Sadler Rd, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034 , Monday – Thursday 9 am – 4pm (Drop-off hours)
New Items:
New items are a great asset to Micah’s Place because they offset costs the agency would normally incur by buying these items. In most cases, new items are given directly to participants residing in the shelter or seeking outreach services. Survivors often come from intensely controlling environments and providing new items assures them they are worthy of nice things despite what their abuser has told them.
Here is our updated Shelter Needs List.
You can also shop from the convenience of home on our Amazon Charity Wishlist and have them shipped directly to us.

Ongoing Drives:
SHELTER WELCOME BAGS:
Our goal is to welcome each family who comes to stay in our shelter with a bag. Before a survivor can begin to heal, their basic needs must be met. These bags contain full-sized hygiene items (shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, deodorant, hairbrush, etc). Additional comfort items like journals, crossword puzzles, socks/slippers are also included to encourage self-care. Each child is provided their own welcome bag fit with a blanket, coloring book and crayons, flashlight, and their own toiletries, too.
NEW HOME BASKETS:
Our goal is to welcome each family who walks through the doors of their new home with a basket filled with necessities, showing our families that they are supported during this difficult time. Cleaning items, towels, pots and pans, dishes, laundry detergent, and trash bags are just some of the items survivors need when establishing a new home.
SMARTPHONE/CELLPHONE COLLECTION:
The collection of unused cell phones and smartphones is a great way to give back. Newer phones can be made into 911 phones, maintaining the ability to call rescue even without a phone plan. Others may be eligible to add on to a pay-as-you-go plan. Others that may be past usage, or out of date, are recycled and proceeds can raise thousands of dollars for much-needed programs and services.
FOOD DRIVE:
Help feed our families while they work to rebuild their lives. Non-perishable food donations are extremely important to Micah’s Place. Juice boxes and sports drinks, as well as individual snacks, are great for the children living in the shelter. Sides and staples like macaroni and cheese, rice, pasta, and canned vegetables can help create a balanced meal.
ARTS & CRAFT SUPPLIES:
Donate arts & crafts supplies for survivors and their children participating in our programs. Art therapy is a powerful form of healing and can provide both children and adults with healthy outlets for their recovery.
