Timberland, the apparel company, chose Amelia Island Plantation, Florida for its fall sales meeting. Rather than contract with expensive outsiders for team building exercises, they used their budget to help charity and mobilized staff into volunteer teams. They asked CSX transportation to join them and fifty six volunteers met at Micah's Place and spent a day building and improving the emergency shelter. At the end of the day when every project was accomplished, they provided another surprise to Micah's Place: Wal Mart gift cards for all families served by Micah's Place. Thanks to Timberland's Tom Roberts for initiating the project as well as George Belanger, Vaughan Morgan and Lori Conley for prepping the site. Also thanks to Sarah Fairweather and Chris Farr with the City Year Team who coordinated the effort.
