The public was invited to join Micah’s Place and the survivors of domestic violence on October 31 to participate in a walk and vigil.The event was in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and began at The Chamber of Commerce in Callahan, and ended with a vigil at EwingPark, Callahan.
Micah’s Place Executive Director Shandra Riffey and Mayor David Buchanan of Hillard led the way.
There are 960,000 reported cases of domestic violence every year in the U.S. and an average of three women are killed each day by their partners. In addition, domestic violence costs the economy $5.9 billion each year.
